Webinar: June 18, 2019: Addressing Mental Health for Improved Community Safety

On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, Rave Mobile Safety will be hosting a webinar that aims to improve understanding of mental health issues, the challenges community members face dealing with individuals with mental health disorders, and how to account for mental health in day to day operations.

Many healthcare professionals, business owners, schools, and other community members are aware of the importance of being proactive and improving mental health awareness in the community but are unsure about the best approach to take.

The webinar will provide the information you need to make more of a difference and will show how improved communication and greater collaboration with first responders, 9-1-1 call takers, school administrator and other teams in the community are essential for improving understanding of people in the community suffering from mental health issues.

The event will be hosted by Rave Mobile Security MPA, ENP, Vice President of Customer Success, Noah Reiter, who will be joined by former Dallas Police Chief, David Brown.

Police figures show around 10% of all police calls involve individuals with mental health issues. David Brown will be providing insights into the steps taken by his department to improve mental health awareness through community policing and the benefits this proactive approach had on the community.

During his tenure, David Brown oversaw the most significant reduction of crime in the history of Dallas, with the level of violent and non-violent crime falling to 50- and 40-year lows respectively. Officer-involved shootings were slashed by 40% and Dallas had the lowest murder rate in 80 years.

These improvements were made possible by improved understanding of mental health issues and by engaging in the kind of dialogue that leads to solutions.

Webinar attendees will discover how they can improve collaboration with 9-1-1 call takers, law enforcement, first responders, school administrators, and other teams in the community and play their part in proactively addressing and improving mental health awareness.

In September, more than 200 healthcare professionals responded to a HIPAA Journal request to participate in an Emergency Preparedness and Security in Healthcare survey by Rave Mobile Security.

The study identified the biggest safety concerns in healthcare, the most common types of emergencies experienced by healthcare providers over the past two years, and the methods used by healthcare providers to communicate with employees during those emergency situations.
